Alexey V. Porubov received his MS degree in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas in 1987 and PhD degree in Mechanics of Fluid and Gas in 1996 from the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnical University, and his Doctor of Science degree in Solid Mechanics in 2007 from the Institute of Problems in Mechanical Engineering of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). Currently he is the Head of laboratory of Micromechanics of materials in the Institute of Problems in Mechanical Engineering of the RAS. He is also Professor at the chair за Theoretical Mechanics of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnical University. His research interests include nonlinear waves in fluids and solids, solutions to the wave nonlinear differential equations, control of nonlinear waves, nonlinear waves in discrete systems. He published two monographs and more than 100 peer-reviewed papers. He is a Euromech member and a member of the Russian Acoustical Society. He edited some special issues of international journals and Springer collective monograph. He is a reviewer of many international journals including Wave Motion, Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulations, International Journal of Non-linear Mechanics etc.
