Sergey V. Gonchenko received a MS in applied mathematics (1975), a PhD in differential equations and mathematical physics (1983) and a Doctor of Science in differential equations and dynamical systems (2004) from Lobachevskii Nizhny Novgorod State University. Currently, he is a professor at the Department of Differential Equations, Mathematical and Numerical Analysis of the Institute of Information Technology, Mathematics and Mechanics, and also as a leading researcher at the Research Institute of Supercomputer Technology of NNSU. His scientific interests include the qualitative theory of differential equations, the theory of bifurcations, the mathematical theory of dynamic chaos. He is the author of about 100 peer-reviewed articles, monographs and manuals, and a member of the editorial board of the journal "Nonlinear Dynamics." Currently, he is also a Federal Professor in mathematics.
