Dmitry Usanov received speciality radiophysics (1965.), the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, physics of semiconductors and dielectrics (1972.) and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1989.) in the Saratov State University. From 1989 to 2000 and from 2003 to 2013, he was Vice-Rector for Research of the Saratov State University, since 1985. till now he is the head of the Department of Solid State Physics, Saratov State University. Professor of the department since 1990. His research interests include solid-state microwave electronics, radio physics, laser physics, medical physics. He is an author of more than 600 peer-reviewed publications, including 193 patents, a senior member of IEEE, Honored Scientist of Russia, was the scientific director of 57 PhD and scientific consultant of 8 doctoral theses. He has the state and departmental awards. In 2000, he was awarded the State scientific grant of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is the chief editor of the journal Proceedings of the Saratov University - New series. Physics, a member of the "Proceedings of the universities Electronics" the editorial board of journals "Physics of wave processes and radio systems"
